Love Has Reasons

Michael P. Thomas is here with a quirky interview, featuring Ashok and Danny from his new release Love Has Reasons. If you haven't read Michael, don't miss out!

Question: You’ve been offered a guest spot on your favorite TV show. What is the show, and who is your character?
Ashok: Does Winning RuPaul’s Drag Race count as a “guest spot?” No, on second thought, I’m not trying to expose all my makeup secrets on TV.  Or, well, the fact that I don’t really have any makeup secrets…
Actually, I feel like Raima sort of missed her guest star opportunity; I’d want to be on one of those old 70s shows from Nick at Nite, like Maude or Mary Tyler Moore.  You know, wear a caftan and some big hoop earrings, maybe compete with Betty White for some 70s-looking guy in a brown suit at a dinner party.  The swirly patterns, all the paisley and pantsuits, everything was flowy.  The hairstyles? Half of the extras in those scenes probably were drag queens.
I think as Ashok I’d have fewer offers.  Maybe some glasses and a lab coat, Brainy Lab Assistant Number Two on that NCIS show with LL Cool J.  Ooh, LL Cool J—now that I mention it, I might have to start watching for casting calls for that show. Maybe they’ll do a Santa Fe Season Finale.  Is that show still on?
Danny: Mine would be Cash Cab.  Definitely Cash Cab.
Ashok: You can’t “guest star” on Cash Cab.
Danny: Sure I can. That cab can’t be that hard to spot. You see a taxi coming with a film crew packed into the back like a clown car, you give it a whistle.  That driver guy’s kinda hot, I’d recognize him, be like “Taxi!”  Whenever I watch that show, I know all the answers.  It’d pay for our trip to New York.
Ashok: What trip to New York?
Danny: The one we’ll go on to find the Cash Cab.  You should want me to be on Cash Cab: you’ll be with me, right?  Maybe you’ll get discovered, LL Cool J will say, “That’s him! No one else could play Brainy Lab Assistant Number Two!” and call his agent.
Ashok: So I should get some fake glasses?
Danny: Couldn’t hurt.

BLURB:
Santa Fe attorney Danny Hanrahan loves life in his adopted hometown.  He’s got a great job, a gorgeous home, he's tall, he's handsome, and he drives a nice car.  The only thing he’s missing is someone with whom to share it all, but when his trusty assistant Monica sets him up with her sexy son Ashok, Danny quickly considers the “boyfriend” box checked, too. Ashok Rai has lived in Santa Fe all his life.  He lives in his parents' basement and has a secure, routine government job.  Finding little excitement elsewhere, he follows his best friend Erik into the glittery world of drag, and his alter-ego Raima Reason quickly becomes one of Santa Fe’s most celebrated queens.
Ashok is fit, charming, and dynamite in the sack; falling in love with him is a piece of cake.  Embracing Raima, though, proves to be more of a challenge.  Danny divorced his wife for a reason, and it wasn't so he could go out and find someone who takes even longer than she did to put on makeup. When Raima's career looks set to take off, Danny has to decide if he's along for the ride, or if a boyfriend who's sometimes a girl is more than he can handle.

Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia

Greetings.

Thanks for attending the Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

A portion of my work in progress takes place in Sudan. The hero must hide his orientation and his relationship because of intolerance. In many countries on the African continent, alternate lifestyles are forbidden and sometimes punishable by death. Laws exist in more industrialized nations as well that marginalize GBLTQ individuals.

Join me in hopping along and adding to the enlightenment. Today is

International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (May 17th). Check out their site here: http://dayagainsthomophobia.org/
