Five Interesting Things About Me: The College Version

In honor of Campus Cravings, I've made a college list.

1)      I have an old college T-shirt from my undergrad days—and it still fits. Very vintage.

2)      I read my first romance novel on a road trip over spring break. It was a historical M/F and not very steamy, but my trip mates considered it scandalous.

3)      Despite having opportunities, I never went to a frat party while in college.

4)      I took fine arts electives, despite majoring in hard sciences (for future career).

5)      The Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight showings were a big thing, and I saw it for the first time with a bunch of friends. Got soaked from all the squirt guns in the rain scene. If you’ve ever been, you know what I mean. If you haven’t, take newspapers with you when you attend!

Tell me something interesting about yourself!

Things I Love About Summer

Summer… three long, sultry, fun-filled months. And those summer nights made it a great time for a romantic fling. Er, for writing a romantic fling. Or reading one.

There’s something about the energy of long days and warm nights. Instead of running home before dark and hunkering down to avoid the cold, the heat of the day segues into a temperate night. Cooking means grilling and corn on the cob and s’mores around a campfire. Since there is still daylight, dinner transitions into outdoor activities.

My favorite things about summer:

Fireflies. Living in the country, it’s easy to see them when they rise from the garden at the edge of the yard. There’s nothing like the smell of fresh-cut grass, flowers, and the sight of the fireflies blinking like living stars.

Watermelon. Is there anything better on a hot day?

Thunderstorms. There’s something majestic about those angry-looking clouds rumbling across the sky.

Drive-in movies. We’re lucky enough to have one within reasonable driving distance. It’s a throw-back to another time, but it’s a great experience.

Porch swings. Yup, I’ve got one. It’s a great place to read, and a nice place to sit and think in the fresh air.

Concerts in the park. Whether it’s classical or rock ‘n roll, it sounds better in the great outdoors.

Summer romances. Reading is a passion for me, and there’s nothing better to take with me to the porch swing. A couple of guys, a helping of conflict, and I'm set.

What are your favorites?

Artistic Endeavor and Campus Cravings

NEW release today. Artistic Endeavor is part of the Campus Cravings Collection. There are nine novellas from nine M/M authors. I'm honored to be included. Check out the excerpt, then take a look at these stories. Link back to Sneak Peek Sunday at the end to read more great excerpts!

In the dimly lit bar, Michael drummed his fingers on the table. “Maybe you should have let me meet him somewhere without you two along as chaperones.”

Eli chuckled. “It took me a week to convince him to meet you. He’d never go for the blind date thing.”

“Well, he’s late. Sure he’ll show?”

“Relax.” Burke massaged Eli’s neck. “He’ll be here.”

Ordinarily Michael looked forward to sizing up a new man. In fact, he’d already taken stock of every guy in the room. If Cobey didn’t show, the bartender looked like a good prospect. Prolonged eye contact, a big grin, and a wink when serving Michael’s beer. Yep, good prospect. Someone new.

Of course, Cobey would be new. Too new. Michael sighed. How was he supposed to introduce himself? Hello. I’m the guy our mutual friends have asked to be your sex instructor. How’s it hangin’?  Yippee.

“There.” Eli nodded at the entrance. “Just coming in.”

For a moment it was too crowded to see much, but the herd of patrons parted. Michael licked his lips. Well, well, well. The picture hadn’t done Cobey justice. Nicely wide shoulders, narrow hips, hair a man could get a grip on. Dark eyes. A perfect mouth—full but not too full. How was it possible this gorgeous male specimen had never been intimate with another guy? And Michael had the opportunity to be the first one.

I can certainly sacrifice myself for the greater good by teaching him.
